Mot väggen – Head-On

Mot väggen is the passionate and stirring love story of Sibel and Cahit.
The show is based on Fatih Akin’s awarded film Head-On and directed by Dritëro Kasapi.

Sibel is 18 years old and longing for life and the world. The only hindrance is her conservative family. One day she meets former rock musician Cahit in a nursing home. Cahit is twice her age, works as a table clearer and has lost all joy of living. Sibel, however, sees Cahit’s Turkish background as her ticket to freedom. She convinces him to marry her. All she needs is a marriage certificate and a shared dwelling. They get married and share a flat, nothing else. Slowly, though, Sibel’s zest for life starts to rub off on Cahit and the unthinkable happens: they fall in love.

Mot väggen is a touching love story about an unexpected encounter which will change the life of two people for ever. Starring Elmira Arikan and Peter Perski, the show appeals straight to the audience and features plenty of live music.

The film Head-On, in Sweden called Mot väggen, is directed by Turkish-German director Fatih Akin. It was released in 2004 and received many prizes, among them the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and the Best Film and Audience prizes at the European Film Awards the same year. Even The Edge of Heaven, Fatih Akin’s last film released in 2007, has been critically acclaimed all over the world.
